La Peña 184
A private weekend residence in Valle de Bravo, Estado de México, where concealed LED strip lighting is the defining architectural element running continuously through reveals, coves, and structural recesses to create the warm, intimate atmosphere of the perfect retreat. All exterior products were specified to IP65. The entire scheme is controlled through a TRIAC dimming system.
Indirect light as the soul of the space.
The brief for La Peña 184 was clear: a home that feels like a retreat the moment you arrive warm, unhurried, and entirely disconnected from the city. The answer was concealed LED strip lighting as the primary ambient source throughout. Running continuously behind reveals in the ceilings, along structural beams, and within custom millwork recesses, the strips cast a soft, directionless glow that fills the room without a single visible source. The natural materials stone, timber, woven textiles come alive under this quality of light in a way no downlight could achieve.
Where accent lighting was required for art pieces, we specified CRI 97 adjustable track heads with individually tuned beam angles each commissioned on-site with the client present. But the strips remain the backbone: they define the character of every room, make the ceilings feel lower and more intimate in the best possible way, and ensure that as the day shifts from afternoon to evening the house simply grows warmer rather than darker.
